Infographic Template

I designed an infographic template for full of various data and icon assets so that they can easily and regularly put out infographics. The style of the infographic matched the logo/website branding I had already designed for them. More work that I’ve designed for can be seen here.

Besties Lettering: Work-In-Progress

I bought the domain! Still figuring what I’m going to do with it, probably a website where people can post pictures of themselves with their bffs – what else!? Anyways, this piece of lettering is a work-in-progress logo for the site.

Blackboard Chat Emoticons

One day, Blackboard Collaborate decided they needed to add a glass of red wine, a tumbler of whisky, a ninja, some sail boats, a my little pony, and a clown to their chat emoticon arsenal. You know, so while the kids are in in lecture they can chat with the prof and classmates about the subject matter at hand: booze, mythical creatures, and clowns. Colloquially known as “Intro to Greek Mythology.” I was more than happy to provide these emoticons for them.

MacInspires is an Apple repair shop in Grenwich, CT. MacInspires repairs Apple products, and are furthering Apple’s mission to enrich people’s lives, and educate, through Apple products.

If this name and the above description sounds familiar that’s because you came to my website when I designed the logo for MacInspires. So as you can see, I designed the site too.

The site design need to be “professional” yet fun. This was accomplished with simple design, bold color, fun use of type, and through custom icon design.

This website is fully responsive and compatible with desktop, mobile, and tablets. The build was a collaboration between myself and Adrien Goulet. Adrien wrote a whole bunch of magical javascript code that made the site sing, and also made the responsive design a reality.

I will be adding shots of the mobile design soon, but for now, you can see the desktop design documented here. You are also welcome to check out the mobile and tablet experiences on your own devices. You have free will, and my permission. You’re welcome.

OpenShares InfoGraphic

I designed this infographic for OpenShares, a finance start-up for whom I also designed a logo. The infographic lived on their website and communicates how the company functions. The icons represent the key interactions that take place between users: auctions/bidding on shares, signing contracts, conversations/negotiations, and deal-making, all focused around trading company shares.

OpenShares Branding

This is the branding for OpenShares, a unique European finance startup. I designed the logo and a custom logotype for the company. I also designed an infographic for them which you can see here.

Ankatank’s Blue Period

So, I’m noticing something a of pattern… I have kind of a lot of blue work from the past year or two. There are even 1 or 2 projects that aren’t yet up on the site (coming soon) which fall into this category. This includes shades of blue, like seafoam green and teal, which might be a stretch but I think it still counts. Note to next client: your project can NOT blue! This is not to say I don’t like those projects, they are in fact some of my favorites. But dammit, I’m declaring it as my new year’s resolution to add more color to my portfolio so if anyone asks me to make it blue, you are getting redirected to this blog post. Do you really want to make me break my New Year’s Resolution? Do you? Could you really live with yourself? (I mean if you really really want blue, okay, I guess we can figure something out… But how about we at least give another color a try first? Marigold? Fuschia? Persimmon? Tangerine? Kelly Green—or does Kelly Green fall under my broadly-defined “blue-ish”?)

Stop SOPA & PIPA, save the Internet. Without a free, uncensored, un-policed Internet, I and so many others couldn’t do what we do. “What we do” is anything from run and promote a small business, protest injustices, communicate and collaborate with people across the world, share our creative projects and ideas with millions of people and gain a following all at once through a series of retweets…

GOOD Magazine articulates it much better, as does the video posted below from You can read more at and also hear what my better half has to say on the matter here.

GOOD listed several petitions you can sign which will hopefully help put an end to these bills: Popvox, Avaaz, Engine Advocacy, and Fight For The Future. You can also contact your representatives. Wikipedia has a form where you can enter your zip code and it will give you contact information for the representatives in your area.

The internet is one of the greatest technological innovations of our time and it has changed the way think, interact, create, and innovate. Let’s do everything we can to help save it!

Who’s Your Mommy?

In honor of the HIGHLY ANTICIPATED series finale of one of my FAVORITE TV shows, and as an excuse to blog about How I Met Your Mother on a blog that is supposed to be strictly design and work related, I bring you WHO’S YOUR MOMMY. I cannot to wait to find out in 81 minutes, WHO is the mother of Ted Moseby‘s children… I admit, I wasn’t an early adopter of How I Met Your Mother, but I did just watch/rewatch the whole series in it’s entirety (I wasn’t just wasting time, I was multi-tasking, probably making something like this…) and in chronological order so that I was ready to watch the finale in REAL TIME. I think that makes me a legit fan, so don’t get on my case about “not watching from the start.” I came around. That’s what’s important. Anyways enough talk and more typography.

Okay UPDATE (just moments after posting this)… I think it’s just the SEASON finale tonight… This is good and bad. Good: more How I Met Your Mother! Bad: I want to know the mother! AND this piece of typography was supposed to be timely!!! I could still be wrong about being wrong, and have been right all along… But we’ll find out in 32 minutes.

UPDATE AGAIN. I was totally wrong! There’s a whole season still to come! Ooops.
